I grew up exposed to the idea that your health can be taken care of through a combination of conventional medicine and alternative medicines working together. I am excited to see ideas evolve and change (in mainstream medicine), during my nursing career. This includes the acceptance and embracing of complementary medicines, such as aromatherapy being used in Geriatric and Oncology wards, or Bowen Therapy being employed to help mothers and babies with breast feeding issues, colic and Plagiocephaly (mishapen heads in infants).
I have worked in the nursing field for over 25 years, and during that time I have worked in a range of nursing environments, from large metropolitan hospitals to rural health settings. I have worked in many different roles including Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife and Nursing Educator. I have nursed in specialties such as palliative care, neonatal intensive care, orthopedics, rehabilitation and even as a civilian nurse working for Defence. I have enjoyed being able to work between my nursing and midwifery roles, and am extremely happy that I can incorporate my alternative therapies with my Midwifery & Nursing. |
